The UPPERCASE collective is a diverse collection of artists that seeks to communicate the different viewpoints of modern society by combining each individual's message into a wider perspective.
The artists utilize traditional processes, digital design, mixed media, and letterpress printing to achieve their message. They come from various religions, cultures, and geographic locations and represent the melting pot of ideas and opinions that is the world today.
The UPPERCASE collective is directed by Melissa Kaup-Augustine, who has instructed courses in typography and letterpress at the Art Institute of California, Rochester Institute of Technology, the San Francisco Center for the Book, and San Francisco State University. Through her letterpress studio, Lizard Press Melissa designs limited-edition books, broadsides and greetings exploring combinations of contemporary photopolymer plates with vintage wood and metal type, that have won awards and have been seen in juried and non-juried exhibits around the world.
